Ozzie Is Alright - 2 Sides Of A Coin

Last nights gigs went really well. First up was Bondi Beach Rd with Mystro opening things for me with a hype live set and then I got on the mix and killed it with some real hip-hop shit. The crowd was definitely feeling the boom-bap style tracks so I took it there with a whole bunch of classics. Big tunes of the night were "It Aint Hard To Tell" and "Ante Up". Good fun!
After that it was a quick drive up to Liverpool to play at 'Urban Soul Lounge' at the Collingwood Hotel. Man, I never knew there were so many islanders in Sydney! (Lol jokes!!) It reminded me of my early gigs in Papatoetoe and Manukau. Mystro did his best to perform 2 of his new tracks but it really wasn't the right environment for him. Still he held it down and earnt his props. I got on the mix after his set and swiftly took it to the R+B side of things. Add in a few swizz beats club tracks later and we were good to go. Big songs of the night were Usher's new one and Rihanna's 'Please Don't Stop The Music'. My personal highlight was dropping the Horsemen 'Feels Like Magic' to a really good response. Its always dope hearing kiwi music get that positive reaction!
So there you have 2 completely different gigs, 2 very happy crowds and one satisfied DJ. Thank god for serato, there is no way in hell I would have been able to play both those shows in one night with the same crate of records!
