The A & R Guy

This is so hilariously, depressingly, deadly accurate! A perfect reenactment of the experience of doing remix work for major (and a few minor) labels. F**k off Bertie Big Balls! LMAO

It's Friday...

And that means for people in NZ that it's Big Day Out day. While my friends and workmates are mostly all at Ericcson Stadium enjoying the festival atmosphere I am at home finalizing music for the forthcoming album.
We have pencilled in an April release date for the record and Im happy to say its pretty much complete. More about that soon.

Check here on monday [uploading now...having some issues with soundcloud..grrr!]
when I'll be dropping the brand new "Love Alone Remix ft. David Dallas". Dave has added some sick verses to the original and I tweaked the beat a little bit to keep it fresh and new for 2010. It's a good one!

And this saturday is the Matakana Island Natural Breeze Music Festival, Tauranga. They have me billed for a 30min set with PNC and David Dallas. So we're gonna throw all our stuff together and put on a nice little show for ya in the sun (at approx 6:30pm). Also performing are Katchafire, Herbs, Dam Native and Maisey Rika. Visit the Facebook event page for more info.

2000 Til Infinity

I'm playin at this party next week in Sydney. It's a best of the 2000's theme (I refuse to use the term "noughties"). This party is presented by the good people from The Main Ingredients/Grindin and also features my man DJ MK all the way from London Town. The last Main Ingredients gig I did was the 90's theme and it was off the hook! Most recently they hosted David Dallas and Neil Armstrong for their Xmas Jam which was equally crazy. The Main Ingredients know how to throw a party so I'm really lookin forward to this one.
I do need your help with one thing though. Seeing as its a best of the 2000 theme, tell me what your most favourite Hip-Hop tracks of the past decade are and I will try and fit them in my set!
Leave suggestions in the comments and hopefully see you there :)

What: 2000 Til Infinity (Best of the Decade)
Where: Melt, 12 Kellett St, Kings Cross. $15 entry
When: Friday 22nd January, 10pm until the break of dawn
Who:
P-Money (New Zealand's #1 DJ / Producer)
MK (Roots Manuva's DJ / UK)
Levins (Ro Sham Bo / Heaps Decent)

SoundCloud

I'm just getting myself familiar with SoundCloud. It's a pretty sweet looking site for hosting, sharing and talking about music. Some people use it as a collaborative tool. I just signed up last night and put a couple songs up. That's the embeddable player down there. Works pretty good. Let's see what else we can get out of it.

The Champ Is Here

I've seen a few live MPC performances. I always heard Bink was dope at playin the machine live. And that dude Exile gets a lot of coverage for his stuff. Sheeit I've even had a laugh filming one myself. But this kid right here.... this kid right HERE?!?? (c) Katt Williams.
This kid AraabMuzik from Dipset is the illest I've ever seen with my own eyes. You gotta peep this.

What My Last Gig Of The Decade Looked Like

Rhythm & Vines Festival, Gisborne, Dec 29th 2009.
What you can see: A few thousand people plus me bathed in light at center stage. And that green stuff off behind the stage would be the grape vines (for those whom are unfamiliar with it, this festival takes place in a large vineyard). An amazing night and a very fitting send off to the decade. Superbly memorable.

Thanks Juan Hunt for the pics. [Click on images for larger view]

Fresh Produce

Looks like the NZ and Oz Hip-Hop scene's are taking 2010 head on!
Two new clips dropped already; Otara's own Young Sid presents a powerful understated clip for his heavyweight single 'Made', and ex-pat South Auckland boys Beat Kamp bring you a slice of the Gold Coast party life on their crew anthem 'Beatkamp Music' (featuring PNC on the hook). I dig both of these.

2010

Just a quick note to welcome in the New Year. Rhythm & Vines festival was crazy and if anyone has pics or video from my set on the 29th please post a link in the comments, that would be much appreciated. It was an incredible night. Definitely a great way to sign off for the year.

I spent NYE with some close friends. It was the first New Years that I haven't worked in years. And it was a lot of fun.
Lots in store for the year ahead. New album is on the way, plus a side project with someone you know quite well, I'm doing the score for a short film and there is some more travel in the works too so we'll see what else comes along with that.

Here's hoping 2010 brings positivity and prosperity to you all. Many thanks. P
